Epilepsy Safety Blindfold

About:

This is a blindfold intended for those with photosensitive epilepsy. It turns your local screen completely black via a toggle, allowing you to protect yourself in the event that you run into a trigger while in VRChat. All of the customization toggles for the blindfold are local to you, so anybody that gets close to your face won't see what you see. There are also additional features to make any transparent effects invisible from your local view and limit the brightness of the things around you!

Features:

• Turn blindfold effect on and off locally
• Locally change how far from your eyes the effect triggers at
• Locally change how big the effect is if your eyes are bigger
• Locally cull out almost all objects that render at a render queue >2450
• Locally dampen the brightness of things around you

If you feel that the blindfold doesn't quite fit your avatar correctly and want a more custom fit, feel free to modify the FBX! The blindfold also has a UV map if you would like to do some other fun stuff to it.

Dependencies:

• LWGUI 1.16.0 (included)
• Latest version of VRCFury (I used version 1.1246)

Install Instructions:

1. Drag the "EpilepsyBlindfold" prefab into your scene, then onto the root of your avatar.
2. Position the "EpilepsyBlindfold" object onto your avatar.
   1. Make sure it covers your eyes completely. Scale the "Blindfold" mesh as necessary.
   2. Position and scale the "EpilepsyProtection" and "SafeSpace: objects as necessary.

That's it! Everything else is applied on upload. It even automatically locks to your head without you needing to do anything!

If this asset doesn't work in some worlds, go into your VRChat settings and set your Camera Clipping Distance to Dynamic.

This is a free asset with a CC-BY 4.0 license, meaning that as long as I (SkyeSage Creations) am properly attributed, you can do whatever you want with this asset, both for personal and commercial purposes. You can even put this on a public avatar if you want! Although this is intended for VRChat, feel free to port this to other applications, so long as I am attributed properly. Do note that the blindfold shader was made using the built-in render pipeline and with VRChat in mind, so it might not work in URP or HDRP.
